THC is the primary cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis. The amount of THC in a product can vary widely based on the method of consumption and the strain at the source of that product. The high that is produced is often enhanced by the “entourage effect” which is a combination of multiple cannabinoids in conjunction with various terpenes and individual body chemistry.

Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to each strain's unique flavor and aroma. Total terpenes represents the combined concentration of all terpene compounds detected in the product, which may influence the overall experience through the entourage effect.

Symbiotic Genetics released Mimosa in 2017, crossing Clementine with Purple Punch and debuting it in the Los Angeles market. Its breeders have said the goal was a loud citrus nose on a plant that grew easily and pressed into excellent hash. Clementine brought the zest and the lift; Purple Punch added resin and a grape-berry undertone.

The aroma opens on sweet orange and grapefruit, running from candied citrus to a sharper peel with a skunky edge, and myrcene is the terpene most often reported. Mimosa is commonly described as uplifting, focused and energetic, a daytime strain by reputation.

Nearly a decade on, it is still a staple and a parent to newer citrus crosses such as Candied Orange - a sativa-leaning hybrid that earned its place on flavor alone.
