THC is the primary cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis. The amount of THC in a product can vary widely based on the method of consumption and the strain at the source of that product. The high that is produced is often enhanced by the “entourage effect” which is a combination of multiple cannabinoids in conjunction with various terpenes and individual body chemistry.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to each strain's unique flavor and aroma. Total terpenes represents the combined concentration of all terpene compounds detected in the product, which may influence the overall experience through the entourage effect.
In 2017, Humboldt Seed Company ran a large phenotype hunt in Humboldt County, and Pineapple Upside Down Cake was one of the keepers. The breeders worked a Cookie Monster x Pineapple Trainwreck pairing through three backcrosses before stabilizing the line.
The name is meant literally. The breeder and growers describe a nose that smells like the dessert itself - ripe pineapple and sweet cake over an earthy base, closing on a tangy, creme-brulee-like finish. It is commonly described as uplifting and upbeat, with a giggly, happy streak.
In these Moonrocks, the flower is coated in hash rosin, bubble hash and cannabis oil. What makes the cultivar worth picking is that dessert character arriving bright rather than heavy - the Trainwreck side of the family lends a sharp, loud edge that keeps all that sweetness lively.
