THC is the primary cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis. The amount of THC in a product can vary widely based on the method of consumption and the strain at the source of that product. The high that is produced is often enhanced by the “entourage effect” which is a combination of multiple cannabinoids in conjunction with various terpenes and individual body chemistry.

CBD is the second most prevalent cannabinoid and is primarily produced by hemp plants and at lower amounts in cannabis. CBD has soared in popularity due to its non-psychoactive effects.

Roger Adams isolated CBD from Minnesota wild hemp in 1940. In Israel, Raphael Mechoulam's group mapped its structure in 1963 and isolated THC and CBG in 1964; his team and a German group each found CBC in 1966.

THC, CBD and CBC share one formula in three arrangements: THC closes three rings, CBD leaves one open, and CBC forms the chromene ring that names it. All three begin as CBGA, the acid form of CBG, which plant enzymes reshape into their acid forms.

Tart Blueberry flavored, the formula adds boswellia, frankincense resin tapped from bark in the Horn of Africa and India, and L-theanine, an amino acid first isolated in 1950 from Kyoto gyokuro tea.

About Snoozy

Chris Abbenda and Owen Martinetti met as students at Baruch College, and when they started Snoozy they made one product, a gummy for bedtime. The line has since widened into a set of formulas for different occasions, each one pairing cannabinoids with a chosen group of botanical ingredients in a vegan, gluten-free gummy. The two paid for the launch with money from an earlier business they built together, with no outside investors.
