Granddaddy Purple was released in 2003 by Ken Estes, who admired Purple Urkle but not its stingy yield, so he crossed it with the high-yielding Big Bud. Purple Urkle carried the grape aromatics and the anthocyanin that turns the flower violet; Big Bud brought the size. Estes has elsewhere pointed to Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan genetics instead, so the parentage is disputed even by its creator - but GDP became the reference point every purple cultivar since has been measured against.

Grape candy and dark berry over a sweet earthy base. Commonly described as deeply relaxing. Filed on our menu as an indica.

**Why this one.** Rove's Melted Diamonds oil starts from fresh-frozen flower rather than dried material, which keeps the volatile aromatics that otherwise cook off during drying. A slow separation lets THCA crystallise into faceted diamonds, and those crystals are then melted back into the full-spectrum live resin they came from. It is a heavier, more concentrated oil than standard live resin, and it carries the cultivar's own aroma instead of a generic sweetness.
