Northern Lights is one of the foundational indoor cultivars. The story starts in the late 1970s on an island in Puget Sound outside Seattle, where a grower known only as "The Indian" worked eleven Afghani plants labelled Northern Lights #1 through #11. The line reached the Netherlands, where Neville Schoenmaker developed it for The Seed Bank - the forerunner of Sensi Seeds - and reportedly brought Thai genetics into the cross. Northern Lights #5 won the Cannabis Cup in 1989, 1990 and 1992, and the plant sits somewhere in the ancestry of a large share of the modern catalogue.

Sweet pine and hashy earth with a soft spice. Commonly described as still and heavy-limbed.

**Why this one.** Rove's Melted Diamonds oil starts from fresh-frozen flower rather than dried material, which keeps the volatile aromatics that otherwise cook off during drying. A slow separation lets THCA crystallise into faceted diamonds, and those crystals are then melted back into the full-spectrum live resin they came from. It is a heavier, more concentrated oil than standard live resin, and it carries the cultivar's own aroma instead of a generic sweetness.
