THC is the primary cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis. The amount of THC in a product can vary widely based on the method of consumption and the strain at the source of that product. The high that is produced is often enhanced by the “entourage effect” which is a combination of multiple cannabinoids in conjunction with various terpenes and individual body chemistry.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to each strain's unique flavor and aroma. Total terpenes represents the combined concentration of all terpene compounds detected in the product, which may influence the overall experience through the entourage effect.
In Florida in the mid-1990s, a grower named Matt Berger kept a short, bushy Northern Lights plant that he called Bubba, after his grandmother's nickname for him. A stray Kush plant grown out from bagseed pollinated it, and the offspring became Bubba Kush. By the late 1990s it had reached Los Angeles and was moving through the city's growers fast, and the original cut is still passed around today under the name Pre-98 Bubba.
The strain's reputation rests on its smell: earthy and hashy, with roasted coffee and dark cocoa underneath and a peppery edge from caryophyllene, its leading terpene. People tend to describe the effect as heavy and settling -- relaxed, sleepy, often hungry -- which has kept this indica-leaning Kush an after-dark favorite for three decades.
About Kings & Queens: Kings & Queens is a Vireo brand that launched in Maryland in October 2021 -- under the company's former name, Goodness Growth Holdings -- as a line of live and cured resin concentrates: badder, budder, sugar and sauce. Its soft debut on October 1 of that year sold through all 330 units in a single day. The line has since grown to include infused pre-rolls and vape cartridges.
