THC is the primary cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis. The amount of THC in a product can vary widely based on the method of consumption and the strain at the source of that product. The high that is produced is often enhanced by the “entourage effect” which is a combination of multiple cannabinoids in conjunction with various terpenes and individual body chemistry.
CBD is the second most prevalent cannabinoid and is primarily produced by hemp plants and at lower amounts in cannabis. CBD has soared in popularity due to its non-psychoactive effects.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to each strain's unique flavor and aroma. Total terpenes represents the combined concentration of all terpene compounds detected in the product, which may influence the overall experience through the entourage effect.
GG4 began as an accident in Josey Whales' grow room, where stressed plants threw male flowers and pollinated Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. Of the seedlings that followed, the fourth female was the keeper, so resinous it stuck to fingers and trimming scissors. As GG Strains, Whales and Lone Watie took it to first place at the 2014 Michigan and Los Angeles Cannabis Cups and the 2015 World Cup in Jamaica. Today it also goes by Original Glue.
Live resin is extracted from fresh-frozen plant without drying or curing, preserving the terpene profile. Here that means sour, earthy diesel funk over pine, with a roasted edge of cocoa and coffee. It is commonly described as a quick euphoric lift that settles into deep, heavy relaxation.
More than a decade on, breeders still reach for GG4 when they want resin.
